Goodbye Greece, via Corfu

A journal entry from: Trails in 2008

...for some reason the text on my last two blogs didnt show up, but they should be there now...

Some of Corfu is very built up with the most hideous apartment blocks and crowded beaches, but we ventured away from the port to the west coast, and stayed at a place on an uncrowded beach where for the princely sum of 18 euros each we had our own room with a bathroom and balcony, and breakfast and dinner.  Our hostess, the lovely Madelena cooked up great feasts for everyone to eat together in the evening, and breakfast one morning was greek pancakes, which were basically deep fried donuts with honey.  No wonder there were people there who had come for a few days and stayed a few weeks!  They have an organic farm which you can work at in exchange for accommodation which was tempting but we have eastern europe to conquer!   We lazed on the beach and played frisbee most of the time, but one day hired a scooter and explored the island.   A perfect finish to Greece, even better was how it started raining just when we got in the ferry for Albania...
