A journal entry from: November 2011 until...

Just a few hours in rainy Riga. Enough time to get some fabulous Latvian beans and wander around town. 

Highlights included the Academy of Sciences building which Wikipedia tells me was "a gift from the workers and peasants of the other Soviet republics to the Latvian people". I know whenever I meet a worker or peasant, they are always going on about how they want to give a foreign city a gift of a skyscaper that looks like batman should live there.

The old Zeppelin hangars that had been converted into a market were cool too. The only real 'conversion' seemed to be to take the Zeppelins out.

But after a few hours it was back in the bus and on to Warsaw.
