Xinaliq

Written on: Friday July 20th, 2012

A journal entry from: November 2011 until...

Spent a couple of nights in the remote, altitudinous, spectacularly beautiful, unique languaged, ancient village of Xinaliq.

One of the oldest constantly inhabited places on earth, the village was full of happy kids laughing supportively at my attempts to speak their language (which is only spoken by about 1500 people). I went on a couple of hikes around town, stayed with the entertaining and hospitable Sarkarov family and felt very lucky to be able to be where I was.
