A journal entry from: July 08 - Jan 09

It may be because it is only a few days to Diwali, but Jaipur is a happening place. Apart from the pretty interesting City Palace and the very interesting 18th century astrological gardens, with, amongst many other odd things a giant sundial, accurate to within 2 seconds, the old town is awash with camels, rickshaws, saris turbans and robes, elephants, buses, motorbikes, shops and a million other things.

The nearby Amber Fort is a huge defensive/palace complex that is very easy (and fun) to get lost in.

There were a few TV cameras around the central square tonight. When I asked what they were for, I was asked to join in the sparkler waving to celebrate the lights being switched on for Diwali.
