A journal entry from: July 08 - Jan 09

Had a very relaxing few days on Crete before what is sure to be a hectic time in India in a few days.

Afer taking a bus from Thessaloniki to Athens, I caught an overnight ferry to Heraklion.

Crete has proved to be another place, that getting a taste of it for a few days only serves to instil the desire to return for a lot longer.

October has once again proved to be a great time to visit this part of the world. Tourist numbers are fairly low, with the exception of famous Knossos, which was pretty packed - I can't imagine what it must be like in Summer. And the weather is fantastic now - low to mid twenties and cloudless skies.

Apart from failing to find the Minotaur among the tourists at Knossos I spent some time riding a scooter in the countryside - interesting to see how quickly the villages become very traditional when you 'explore' (some would say get a little lost) off the main road.

Besides what you will see in the photos, some memories include jousting with the Mad Dog of Axos (which is a story which is much more exciting the less you know about it) and learning that 'Meat Variety' is not actually English, but Greek for 'Half a cow'. Be careful when you order!
