Frioul Island Diplomacy Tournament

Written on: Saturday September 13th, 2008

A journal entry from: July 08 - Jan 09

Organised by the fabulous Gwen, on the island that he lives on, just off the coast of Marseilles, about 25 people attended this tournament where the emphasis was on both playing Diplomacy and relaxing and having a good time. I think that everyone besides Gwen managed to do both. As you can see in the photos, the location is fantastic - the castle from the story of the Count of Monte Cristo is on a neighbouring island. It was great that Gihan and Brian could make it from England and Ireland respectively. Many thanks to Alex for the lift down. I hope that I repaid him in some small (and unintentional) way by doingmy part to help him win the tournament. Actually Italian players came 1st 2nd and 3rd. Although messed-up schedules, invisible buses, traffic accidents and train delays made getting there a bit of an ordeal, it was definitely worth it. Thanks Gwen, I hope I can return the favour in Australia some time.
