A journal entry from: July 08 - Jan 09

A very enjoyable day in Milan. After a few problems with cars and trains in the morning meaning that I will go to Marseilles tomorrow with Alex, it poured with rain in the morning, so I caught up with my blog and other internetty things at Marco's house in Milan. Then it fined up as you will see in the photos and I spent the day wandering around the town.

I really enjoyed the Monumental Cemetry. I thought it would be full of garish, crass tombs. And there were plenty. But unexpectedly, I found a number of art adorning the tombs very moving.

I know it is a stereotype, but Milan IS amazingly stylish. Nothing to worry about for a man with a sense of fashion as refined as mine is, but it is truly amazing the effort that people go to to look good. In some of the metro stations they have fans blowing a light mist intermittently. I serious think that this might in part be so that people's hair doesn't friz.

I have never in my life felt so foreign.
