A journal entry from: Conquer the Continent & Shanghai
I've always wanted to go to the West Coast and now I know why. Los Angeles, California wasn't incredible for me because of the glamour of Beverly Hills or Rodeo Drive, nor the nite life, nor the beaches but because of the people and the church there. I haven't heard unapologetic preaching like the kind I heard there for a long time.
Did you know that Chris Rock is sponsoring inner city kids from Brooklin (where he's from) to go to the Hope AIDS Clinics in Africa for the summer? CNN and Time Magazine are going to cover the story. I also got to see the head of an orphanage in Mexico come and speak and thank the efforts of the volunteers. That was followed by a sermon on How To Be Rich (not how to GET rich). We are rich just because we live in North America. Most of us are in the top 10% of salary earners in the world. Now the question is what do you do with that wealth?
I was truly blessed on this trip. I asked for the smallest (and hence cheapest) car the rental company had. I've tried probably all the rental companies out there but have never tried Hertz. I couldn't believe it when I got to my car and it was a Mazda MX5 convertible. I've never driven a convertible and what a place to experience it. I drove up to Santa Barbara and came back. I've added riding a motorcycle to my bucket list now. There's no words that can describe the feeling of driving with the wind in your hair, the sun shining down on you and hearing the sounds of the elements around you.
