Chateau Hopping: Amboise

Written on: Sunday March 11th, 2007

A journal entry from: Rouen

After leaving Chenonceau, our driver brought us to Chateau d'Amboise which was 15 minutes away.  Hannah and I fell in love with the town instantly.  Its a tiny little town and the Chateau is situated high on a hill overlooking the town.  For a Sunday, the town was pretty busy, but it was because the chateau was located near a market.  We didnt have too much time at this chateau because we had to get back to catch our train, but the grounds of the chateau were very beautiful.  It wasnt as large as Chenonceau, but it was situated strategically on the Loire river and high above the town to enabe people to have an amazing view of the french town and the surrounding country side. It was interesting to learn that Leonardo da Vinci came to the castle in 1515 and worked in Clos Luce which is close to the castle.  Overall it was nice to visit the castle to bask in the sunlight and watch the sunday hustle and bustle of the town.
