A journal entry from: Japan Blitz

Such a good sleep. Woke up and packed then went upstairs for complimentary breakfast. Japanese style again, a box containing: fish, rice, pickles and some weird bean stuff. Gross i didn't like it. You mix it with mustard and some sauce. Everyone inside was wearing a yutaka. Us aussies came in jeans and jackets. hahaha Didn't know. Oh wellz. We checked-out then bused it to Hakone-Yumoto train station where we dumped our bags at this baggage minding service place for 350yen.

Caught the slowest train every from Yumoto station to Gora. The train is weird. It goes uphill but in a horizontal way. The driver actually gets out from the front and walk to the back to turn the train around. No wonder it took so long! We looked at some shops there and spotted a taxi where the door opens automatically. I've got this clip where the driver comes to the taxi stand. The back door just automatically opens how funny!!!!! From Gora, we caught the cablecar (train) up to Sounzan. Got off andtook an amazing ride on the ropeway (cable car) up to Owakudani. We were so high up on the mountains we saw everything! And then we hit the jackpot - Mt Fuji!!!! The weather was good so we had a clear view of the volcano. There's so much snow in the area. We played around in the snow and took HEAPS of photos. Smoke comes out from the mountain holes. They're actually sulfur dioxide gas from volcano eruptions. Isn't that poisonous?? It stinks though like a fart mountain! Us girls ate black eggs which has been boiled in sulfur and apparently 1 egg can increase longevity for 7 years. Tasted like a normal egg to me but it had a black shell.

Spent a few hours in Owakudani then cablecar back to Sounzan. We got off to look for a bus but there was no bus that leaves from Sounzan so went back to where we came from at Hakone-Yumoto. Picked up our luggage and caught Shinkansen from Odawara station to Kyoto. We couldn't get a direct train to Kyoto so we had to change trains at Shizuoka station. Because we had to buy food, we were seriously running for the train with only 2min to spare! It was about an hour train trip to Kyoto.

Kyoto station is one hell of a station. Its sooo nice!!! Department stores and hotel entrances are in the station. Pretty lights filled the streets. The first thing we notice when we walked out of the station was the Kyoto Tower. Took 6 min to walk to our hostel at Budget Inn. Greeted by KIMI, who spoke perfect English. I thought he was kinda cute too awww.. Showed us to our room on level 3 which was Japanese Style Golden Room Ensuite with 4 beds. Walls were painted gold. Another plane style bathroom. Very neat and clean but it was really tiny. Dropped off our bags and left the place at 9pm for dinner at Porta which as an underground mall filled with restaurants and shops underneath Kyoto station. Just missed out on last order time (closed at 10pm). We walked outside the station, no restuarnts seemed to be open. Walked around for a while looking for food. Found one hidden in a corner called Pronto which served cafe/western food. I ordered an Italian omelette and Jap Style Mojito ... it was so nice. After dinner, we just went back to sleep. So itchy so took 2 phenergans.
