Landing in Taipei

A journal entry from: Japan Blitz

Arrived at Taipei TaoYuan airport at around 7pm. However, we were met with a dilemma. We waited and waited at the carousel but our luggage was nowhere to be found!!! Ran into an aussie guy and realised he was in the same situation as us. Went to China Airlines baggage desk and they said it was in the basement coz they thought we were only stopping over, which we were but all our clothes and stuff we need for the night was in our luggage. Waited for 45min for them to find our luggage. We were bored and it so happened we spotted some stray wheelchairs lying around the airport .. there was 3 wheelchairs so we each took one and played tips, races with those wheelchairs. People looked at us like idiots but it was fun! ahhahaha ... We now know how to turn a wheelchair. You gotta hold one wheel still and turn the other wheel. Keep on doing that and you will do a 360 degree turn.

Baggage came then we exchanged $200AUD shared between the 4 of us (which turned out to be a bit too much for one night). We looked for our airport transfer ... a guy called out Mimi's name so we walked to him and sat in their mini bus to our hotel for the night - Miramar Golf Country Club. You shouldve seen the journey on the bus to our hotel. It was so isolated. Through mountains and bushes. Quite scary and it obviously wasn't safe to walk out and look around Taipei. The hotel was 1 hour away from the city centre .. couldn't be bothered calling a taxi to go out so we decided to spend the night at the hotel. We got hungry so ordered room service. Dinner was some curry with rice dish $220NT which is a quite cheap. But it came to our room covered with glad wrap and it didn't taste that great. We all reckon they had it premade and prolly heated it up with a microwave LOL... On another note, i think they shouldve given us plane food. Tasted so much nicer!

The hotel itself was pretty good. Its so big we had the option of getting a room EACH. But we just opt for 2 rooms. The rooms were connected which means there was a door in between our walls that provided a thoroughfare between the rooms. The bathroom was big. The toilet water seemed so clean that you could drink it. Not that i did anywayz.
