A journal entry from: Japan Blitz
Dermatitis has struck me again. I always seem to get it when I go away on holidays. Must be the weather or water. Took too much phenergan last night so couldnt wake up properly. Had to pop some Sudafed to wake me up. Got to breakfast late again. Alarm was on at 6.30am, we just never woke up ahhaha.... Breakfast was the same as yesterday - getting boring.
Called Cathay Pacific to enquire about my airfare to hk then we headed to Disneyland!!! Caught train to Tokyo then changed trains there to Maihama. Oh gosh. Tokyo station is huge!!! 520m to head from our platform to the next one. Tokyo is the center where every train passes i think. Thats where the Shinkasens (bullet train) depart too.
Our activated JR Rail Pass made our tickets free. Train went over some bay to Maihama. Disneyland was big but unfortunately no time to go on all rides! Unfortunately the weather was really crap the day we went - it was windy and cold, even started to rain at one stage so many rides had to be cancelled. Did lots of looking at souvenier shops. Mimi wanted some lilo&stitch hat and i wanted ear muffs. All gone! First ride we went on was Jungle Cruise. We waited for 1 hr for a cruise that went around some water and jungle thing. Not that fun. Then walked to buy food - bought a pie which looked like a sausage roll and churros! Did some site seeing .. Next ride we went on was Haunted House. We waited 1.5 horus for this one. It wasnt that scary but it was cool. Lots of special effects\hologram work here. Last ride we went on was Space Mountain. Indoor rollercoaster. The ultimate disneyland ride - i fell in love with the hk one and this one was as good!!!!! I was paired up with Derrian, Mimi and Cat were together. It was scary. Walked to Toontown. There was this lopsided tram thingy... so cool!!!
(Mimi needs to tell what she saw here) Indeed all we heard from Kaz was that this space ride was the ultimate disneyland ride! cat and i were thinking that it f**kn better be because we had been waiting outside in the cold, AGAIN for a whole hour. (mind you, we chose a fantastic day to go to disneyland... besides the sprinkling of rain, wind cold enough to give you frost bite and waiting on average an hour for each ride... we had a great time hehe) when we finally went on the ride, the only thing that we could compare it to was the scoobydoo ride at warner bros movie world in the Gold Coast... only this thing didnt go backwards, and all it did was go up, and down and around... i started to yell and scream a bit to perhaps fool myself in believing that this was indeed the ultimate disneyland ride... cat's woohoos and yeahs! gave me a little reassurance. the best part of this ride was when i got off to see if kaz and derrian were behind us, also getting off. what i didnt expect to see was derrian close to stumbling, holding his stomach, pissing himself and almost crying with laughter! cat and i walked out quickly... i decided to wait till we were outside before i asked him what happened... with a great big smile on her face, cat told me that she had some idea of what might have happened on the ride. this cannot be expressed, or described in words... it is best heard, and can be heard, watching a scary movie with kaz. the sounds that she had made were enough to bring tears to derrian's eyes =P
We had a buffet dinner at Crystal Palace inside Disneyland. It was really good esp for an amusement park restaurant. 2500 yen got us a nice warm dinner. The plates were cutely shaped Mickey Mouse head. We had to wait a while to get in. Too popular!
It closed at 10pm so we went to shops for one last time and left. Caught train back to Tokyo, this time we got out of Tokyo station and had a look around the area. Not too fun. Its just high rise builidngs. Not much to see or do. I guess its the capital and the main business centre. So then we caught train back to Ueno and went home.
At the time of writing: currently 2.30am now and im still blogging. hahaha we decided to wash clothes tonight and im waiting for it to dry. I stepped one foot in the outdoor onsen upstairs -- crap SO HOT. boiling hot. I dunno how ppl can surive in it! It'll cause scaldings and blisters i weckon! The clothes wouldn't dry properly even with the dryer. We ended up taking the wet clothes back to our room and hanging them around the nicely heated room.
