Hoi-An, Viet Nam

A journal entry from: South-East Asia, 2007

We spent 3 days in this old, sea-trading port city and renowed for its fabric and tailor shops.  From our wonderful, large balcony room we went out to explore and shop all over this fascinating town.  We indulged ourselves with tailor-made outfits (around $20ea), great eating and drinking, and rented bikes one day ($1ea) to go out to the miles and miles of sea-side beaches.  While there the usual hot and humid weather changed and torrential downpours flooded the river and city streets.  While this was detrimental to the shop-owners, it was a boon to the boat people who ferried stranded shoppers and guests to dryer streets for a small fee.  The rain also heralded our decision to move on southward to NhaTrang.
