A journal entry from: South-East Asia, 2007

Well, we're finally on our way!!!! (well, sort of)  We've left home anyway and are at John & Renee's in Kelowna waiting to catch our flights to Vancouver and Hong Kong tomorrow.  After a couple of very stressful weeks waiting for Canada Post to return our passports from Ottawa with our Viet Nam visas, tying up loose ends at work, and a myriad of last-minute details to remember at home, we left on Friday afternoon to spend the Thanksgiving weekend in Inververe with Debbie's Mom and Donna, Michael and assorted family.  Then we had a lovely day yesterday (Monday) driving over the Rogers Pass and through the North Okanagan to Kelowna, and another Thanksgiving dinner with John & Renee and friends.

So - we're on pins and needles waiting for the big departure tomorrow, and all that lies ahead.  See you in Hong Kong,

 Debbie & Ben

Just heard about your big trip, what an adventure! I had a great experience in Thailand I'd love to share with you. Might be a fun stop for you. It's Elephants and Friends, a grassroots elephant sanctuary started by my friend Dominique, who sadly passed away last year. http://www.elephants-friends.com/ for more info. If you're interested, send me an e-mail and I can tell you more. kaimik@yahoo.com Have a terrific trip!

From Michael, Donna, April and Flo on Oct 13th, 2007

Hi there Deb and Ben. So how is it in Hong Kong? April wonders if you fit in with all the short people. "Hope all goes well and you come home safe and sound" from Flo. You guys were probably pretty tired upon your arrival in Hong Kong. We have been thinking about you every day and wondering where you are. April hopes you can send her home a deep fried tranchela (sp?). Any how, we love you and look forward to hearing about your adventures.
