Good Bye Bangkok

Written on: Thursday March 27th, 2008

A journal entry from: Southeast Asian Adventures!

It was quite an adventure getting from Sihanoukville to Bangkok. It was a 13 hour journey which involved switching buses in Cambodia 3 times to cross a river on tiny wooden boats, walk across a bridge that hasn't been completed, and to get off at the border at Koh Kong. Luckily it was a short line up at the border and we were across in no time, in minibuses heading to Bangkok.

The drive from the border to Bangkok was beautiful, with green mountains, coastal views and a thunder shower. I was struck by the wealth of Thailand after spending 6 weeks in Cambodia. We were happy to arrive in Bangkok and have a room to sleep in.

We were only in Bangkok for 2 days, which I spent shopping. We went to Siam Center, a huge and expensive shopping center, where I decided that I was better off shopping on Khao San.

I'm going to miss the craziness of Bangkok, but I think 3 times in one city is plenty. Now for the next stop... The Philippines!
