Lima

A journal entry from: South America

January 30th - 31st

After an unusually comfortable 27 hour bus ride (with films not dubbed into Spanish, food served and bingo!) we were finally in Lima, where we were going to fly to Venezuela from. Due to flooding near Cuzco, the bus was diverted so it took about 8 hours longer than normal. It was however a spectacular journey down from the mountains to the sea. We followed the dramatic coast for quite some time and we even spotted two dolphins playing in the waves!

We arrived in Lima quite late and were only staying one night, so didnīt have much time to check out the city. One interesting thing we saw was "The Cow Parade" - a collection of painted life sized cow statues on tour around the world. We noticed them since we had seen them in Budapest four years ago. We went out for dinner in the evening, and ended up in a hectic tourist and party district.....

The next morning we had lunch in the square near the hotel and then headed off for the airport. On the way we enjoyed a nice view of the sea and the beach next to Lima.
