Quepos

A journal entry from: Cycle Mexico - Panama

November 7th - 10th

The ride from Paritta to Quepos was good. The 25.8km went by quickly and we arrived in Quepos in good time to find a nice hotel.

On Sunday we visited Manuel Antonio national park. We had read about it and it was supposed to be a good place to spot sloths. We really wanted to see one and were very lucky to spot one on the road, before we even got into the park! We had a great view of it eating some leaves and then crawling off to go to sleep.

In the national park the nature was fantastically beautiful with a small peninsula with beaches on either side. We saw lots of wildlife too, including 3 types of monkeys, racoon, agouti, another sloth and a few birds and insects. This time we didnīt have a guide, but it was great to explore on our own. Luckily the park wasnīt too crowded as it was the wet season. We also had a picnic on one of the beaches.

We stayed an extra night here as the hotel was so nice, and we had the place almost to ourselves. We spent a relaxing day yesterday by the pool. As we donīt have too much time left we are today setting off on the bus towards Panama. Our flight to Santiago from Panama City leaves on the 24th November and we plan to do a few days cycling before reaching Panama City. Therefore we will take the bus to a town about 100km from Panama City to finish our trip riding Shaun and Toby to their final destination.....

Total km = 974.1
