Travel Blog Part 10 - Interlaken

Written on: Sunday February 18th, 2007

A journal entry from: EURO5

And off to Switzerland we went. Our last look at France behind us, we had to make something like 3 different train transfers over a 12 hour period that seemed like it really didnt need to be that long and indirect. Whatever though, we enjoyed some of the best scenery on this leg of the trip that we'd ever see. Quick note - Switzerland was probably the most expensive overall country we visited.

When we arrived in interlaken it was made very clear what the name of the town meant - between lakes. For anyone familiar with the okanagan I guess you could geographically compare Interlaken to Penticton. What cool little town though - you get that outdoorsy feeling of being in an active place with tonnes to offer. Interlaken apparently thrives on high-adrenaline sports like skydiving and white water rafter - both of which we took part in. Be warned - it ain't cheap. But can you really put a price on jumping out of a helicopter in the Swiss Alps?
