Travel Blog Part 4 - Barcelona

Written on: Thursday February 15th, 2007

A journal entry from: EURO5

It was supposed to be an overnight train from Paris to Barcelona, but we worked it out so it would be cheaper if we just spent the entire day on the train, with a transfer in Montpellier. You for sure notice it when you cross the border - the border towns of Spain looked a lot less industrialized than those of France, but with it came the beaches and the ocean.

We ended up setting up shop in a little town about 45mins from Barcelona called Pineda de Mar. We checked in at our 15 euro per nite hotel (yup, 15 euro) and found out it came with air conditioning, a kitchenette, a clean room and a swimming pool on the roof. This was a great score, and what made it even better were the people we met there. The people around this small town were awesome, the guy across the street who ran the internet cafe became our good buddy. Mario, i think his name was? Anyway, this was a place where they really made you feel at home. Except for the time when we accidentally through our football off the roof near the pool and some dude in a vespa picked it up off the ground and took off with it, despite us yelling at him to throw it back up. Cool.
