Kata Beach

A journal entry from: Thailand

The last 2 days on Kata beach have been nothing short of very exciting, too many activities, no sleep and (for the most part) FUN!! Kata Beach is a small beach town south of Patong. The beach itself is situated in a small bay - with clear turqouise water and white sandy beaches. A magical place to unwind and off-gas. At night, the beach bars come alive with great music and fire shows- a circle is drawn in the sand and 4 large sand piles are created to support 4 torches bordering the circle. Young men take turns showing off their fire handling skills in the inner circle. Its beautiful to watch against a back drop of a starry night and shimmering water... very Romantic!!  On the 2nd to last night I went into Patong to meet up with a few friends and had a minor motorbike accident. I left Patong with 26 stiches and a broken left hand!! I'm only thankful it happened at the end of the trip and I was able to get in those amazing dives (which was the main purpose of coming here!). It could have been much worse. No more diving for me for awhile!! I am on my way back to Bangkok and then home!! Until then ...
