Montenegro - Kotor Fjord

Written on: Friday September 26th, 2008

A journal entry from: Off travelln', back later..

In Montenegro now, the southern coastline below Serbia. Planning on spending a few days before heading north to Belgrade. Kotor is at the head of the largest Fjord in southern europe and has a very nice old town. After seeing the old towns of Zadar, Split, Hvar and Dubrovnik its starting to seem a little familar though! Took a stroll up to the fortress above the town - a very steep climb up and great views across the fjord.

Staying in a homestay with an older Montenegran couple out of old town. Really liking living with the locals and walking through suburbs I would otherwise never get to.

Went kayaking today (27th) and am stuffed. I went out to some islands at the main inlet to the fjord (look up the coast to the only 3 way junction - see the thin inlet that gives access to the ocean - the islands are just across from that). Beautiful to be out there!

I'm very impressed with your planning particularly the lack of it at times - the well worn tourist track is not as interesting. Have just signed up for a TESOL course so will be after some advice on teaching. Keep the diary going - I was not aware the Croats had a go at the Bosnians. Cheers Dad
