700 meters of climbing, but it felt like almost as much down as up. Up one ridge and down it, the dowhills unwelcome because it meant another steep climb, as we ascended 700m on rough, dirt road. At the end a public use cabin and the chance to escape mosquitoes. But, alas a lock on the door, a parked car in front and a creek side campsite at the upper edge of the subalpine for us. Not so bad, and only 10km from the continental divide. Almost there.
