the last leg of the valley

A journal entry from: Fishes and Bicycles

We've moved up in the world. Good bye RV parks, hello cheap motels. We had a fantastic ride today from Abbotsford to Chilliwack, mostly through agricultural country and on dykes along the Vedder and Sumas Rivers. We passed a Great Blue Heron rookery, a Dark Sky Reserve (to see the stars better), several fly fisherman and the Sto:lo First Nation office. (We were so speedy, I couldn't tell whether it was the treaty or band office.) I saw a sea otter too. It was huge and looked like a seal. We also passed under a bridge and got super muddy. We really look like we know what we're doing now. All's well and we're preparing for the next leg, which will likely be the steepest so far. Yikes! Off to eat some more to prepare. - Jen
